HOT TIPS ON HOW TO CLEAN & CARE FOR YOUR SEX TOYS

You’ve spent a long time choosing the perfect toy, now it’s time to make sure it lasts. Follow these tips for ensuring your adult products are hygienic to use and last a long time.

  1. Wash and dry your toys before and after every use.

Toys can come into contact with a range of materials such as hair and dust, so it’s important to give them a quick thorough clean before and after use to avoid potentially harmful bacteria from building up.

Most toys only require washing with water and a gentle anti-bacterial soap however, it’s best to follow any cleaning instructions that come with the toy to ensure you’re doing it the right way for that product. Leather goods shouldn’t be submersed in water but can be wiped over with a clean, damp cloth or an antibacterial wipe or spray.

Toy Washing Guide

General clean rules depending on what your toy is made of:

Silicone: Hand wash with soap and water or immerse it in boiling water for 10 minutes to kill any bacteria.

Glass: Wash with soap and water. Glass shouldn’t be immersed in boiling water or exposed to high temperatures as it can shatter or warp.

Pyrex: Can be washed by hand with soap and water or boiled.

Stainless steel: Boil for 10 minutes, soak in bleach and water (then make sure to RINSE THOROUGHLY).

Porous materials (such as hard plastic, cyber skin, nylon, neoprene, jelly rubber, vinyl and soft vinyl, acrylic, elastomer, and leather).

These are more heat sensitive, so they won’t withstand boiling or high temperature water. It is best to clean these materials with cool or warm water and gentle soap.

TOP TIP: Before submersing your toy in water, check that’s it’s waterproof and take out the batteries. Non-waterproof toys should only be wiped over with a toy cleaning wipe or a spray such as Before and After Anti-Bacterial Toy Cleaner.

  1. Store Your Equipment Properly

The best way to keep your toys sterile and in top condition for longer is by using a lockable case which is preferably air-tight, clean and dry such as our lockable vibrator case. This will also protect those X-rated items against little prying eyes – always a consideration for those with kids.

  1. Use the Right Lube

Silicone lube is latex friendly, but it tends to react to the material of silicone toys and can melt them. If your toy is silicone, only use water-based lubricants such as Swiss Navy Water Based Lube.

Groovy Vibe products are available in Australia, New Zealand and America.
